The Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes Series started in Perth today.
The unique series format sees the Southern Stars compete against the English women in one test match, three ODIs and three T20s, where each match is worth points (e.g. winning the Test Match is worth 6 points) and the team with the most points (ie. most wins) at the end of all matches is crowned the winner of the Ashes.
England are the current holders of the Women’s Ashes after taking victory over the Southern Stars in the 2013 Northern Summer.
For those wanting to follow the series, the Test Match is available to watch live on CATV (on the Cricket Australia website and Cricket Australia Live: The Official App), while ABC Grandstand Digital/BBC Radio Five Live Sports Extra is providing radio coverage. The video stream incorporates ABC Grandstand’s radio commentary.
The three ODIs will also be steamed lived on cricket.com.au, while the three T20s will be broadcast live by the Nine Network on GEM (the T20 matches are played prior to the mens T20 matches).
This is a great initiative by Cricket Australia to live stream the Test Match and ODIs and will no doubt assist in the continued growth and popularity of women’s cricket in Australia.
