The original Monday night AFL talk show is returning to Channel Seven. The network has announced that Talking Footy will air on Monday nights throughout the 2013 Toyota AFL Finals Series.
In the host’s chair will be Seven’s Bruce McAvaney. He will be joined by Seven AFL commentator Luke Darcy and former AFL star Wayne Carey. In a sign of the AFL’s strong relationship with Seven, the AFL’s CEO Andrew Demetriou will also join the panel. Essendon legend Tim Watson and Cats premiership skipper Cameron Ling from Seven’s AFL commentary team will feature on some panels as well.
Seven Melbourne Managing Director Lewis Martin said:
“Seven pioneered this original fan favourite and with the finals looming we know there’s a hunger for high quality and insightful news, views and analysis from the biggest names in the game, including the AFL CEO at a time when the game faces the most challenging issues in its history.”
Talking Footy will be filmed at Seven’s Docklands studios in Melbourne and air 9:40pm on Monday nights on Channel Seven in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and at 11:30pm on 7mate in Sydney and Brisbane.
Viewers will be spoilt for choice for AFL talk shows during the final series with Nine’s Footy Classified and Fox Footy’s On the Coach also airing on Monday nights.
