Network Ten initially broadcast the tournament until a contractual dispute between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and World Sport Group (<em><strong>WSG<\/strong><\/em>) (WSG had the?IPL?rights in partnership with Sony Corporation) saw TEN elect not to broadcast the tournament. At the time (in 2011) a?<span style=\"line-height: normal; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">TEN spokesperson told?<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvtonight.com.au\/2011\/04\/tv-rights-dispute-shuts-out-indian-premier-league.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TV Tonight<\/span><\/a>:?<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"line-height: normal; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">?As there is currently a significant legal dispute between The Board of Control for Cricket in India (which owns and controls the commercial rights in the Indian Premier League) and the company through which Network TEN secured the Australian broadcast rights, Network TEN has decided not to broadcast the IPL.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As such, for the last few years Australians wanting to watch live IPL action legally have needed to stream the matches via YouTube. For the 2015 edition of the tournament, while Star India&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotstar.com\/\/#!\/live-cricket-streaming\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Hotstar<\/span><\/a> website secured certain global online rights to the IPL (following a bidding process earlier this year), <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IPL\/status\/585789973678297089\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a tweet from @IPL<\/span><\/a>?suggests <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cricketgateway.com\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">cricketgateway.com<\/span><\/a> holds the streaming rights for Australia.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PepsiIPL?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PepsiIPL<\/a> 2015 Broadcasters &#8211; Digital (Hotstar &#8211; India), <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/yrawEqA4I0\">http:\/\/t.co\/yrawEqA4I0<\/a> &#8211; Rest of the World excluding India, Africa, Europe, UK &amp; US<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IPL\/status\/585789973678297089?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 8, 2015<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lack of an Australian broadcaster is surprising given that well-known Australian players are highly sought after and key players in the IPL. As reported by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/cricket\/australia\/indian-premier-league-auction-aussie-cricket-team-score-over-9-million-for-six-weeks-work\/story-fn2mcu3x-1227222702470\">Fox Sports<\/a><\/span>, the 11 players that took to the field for Australia against England in the 2015 World Cup Opener at the MCG were sold to their respective IPL franchises for a total of $9.22 million.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aside from the players, Aussie commentators will feature heavily on the world feed TV coverage of the tournament.
