{"id":1530,"date":"2012-03-02T19:46:01","date_gmt":"2012-03-02T09:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/?p=1530"},"modified":"2013-06-02T21:39:55","modified_gmt":"2013-06-02T11:39:55","slug":"radio-silence-for-mtr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/?p=1530","title":{"rendered":"Radio silence for MTR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2012\/03\/20120302-194630.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"20120302-194630.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2012\/03\/20120302-194630.jpg\" width=\"230\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/?p=1516\">I wrote<\/a> that <strong>Melbourne Talk Radio&#8217;s<\/strong> <strong>(MTR)<\/strong> future was not bright and that its problems were likely terminal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today the life-support was turned off for the fledging station as the voices of <strong>MTR<\/strong> fell silence across the <strong>1377AM<\/strong> frequency in Melbourne, replaced with easy listening station <strong>MyMP<\/strong>, according to the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heraldsun.com.au\/entertainment\/tv-radio\/melbourne-talk-radio-yanked-off-the-air\/story-e6frf9ho-1226287612038\">Herald Sun<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The station spearheaded by presenters <strong>Steve Price<\/strong> and <strong>Steve Vizard<\/strong>, was today placed in administration by its owners, <strong>Macquarie Radio Network (MRN)<\/strong> and <strong>Pacific Star Network (PNW)<\/strong>. The station went silent at around 5PM.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an announcement to the <strong>ASX<\/strong>, <strong>MRN<\/strong> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The Directors of the joint venture company Melbourne Radio Operations Pty Limited (MTR), owned by Macquarie Radio Network Ltd (MRN) and Pacific Star Network Ltd (PSN), have today appointed administrators.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The website has been deactivated with only the <strong>MTR logo<\/strong> and a phone number showing on the home page.
