This has included <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/?p=1289\">Seven&#8217;s new MKR app<\/a><\/strong>?and the use of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/?p=1222\">social networking apps<\/a><\/strong> by Nine and Seven in their respective broadcasts of cricket and tennis this summer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Yahoo!7<\/strong>, the 50-50 partnership between the<strong> Seven West Media Group<\/strong> (<strong>ASX: SWM<\/strong>) and <strong>Yahoo! Inc,<\/strong>?yesterday released statistics on the use of social media by television viewers.?Some of the results from?<strong>Yahoo!7&#8217;s<\/strong>?social media research (<strong>7,741<\/strong>?people participated in the survey across Australia) include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>?<strong>41% of people<\/strong>?reported posting on Facebook while watching TV;<\/li>\n<li>?<strong>36% of respondents?<\/strong>are using a mobile phone to text or call friends and family while watching TV;<\/li>\n<li>People are more likely to use social media during or after a show;<\/li>\n<li>Nearly <strong>72%?of people<\/strong> watch TV shows live on TV as they are airing; and<\/li>\n<li><strong>90% of people<\/strong> prefer to watch TV on a traditional TV set.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We <a href=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/?p=1222\">reported<\/a> that during the Test cricket this summer?<strong>Vodafone&#8217;s Cricket Live<\/strong> app had been downloaded some?<strong>700,000 times <\/strong>and <strong>nearly 10 million votes received<\/strong>?for the <strong>Vodafone Viewers&#8217; Verdict <\/strong>(a feature in the app), after questions were asked during Nine&#8217;s broadcasts. It has now been confirmed by <strong>Yahoo!7<\/strong> that?<strong>FANGO<\/strong> has secured over<strong> 200,000 downloads<\/strong> since launch, averaging over <strong>10,000 downloads<\/strong> each day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact during the <strong>Australian Open<\/strong> around <strong>100,000 fans<\/strong> checked in at the tournament&#8217;s program page on the?<strong>FANGO <\/strong>app, with the<strong><em> Hewitt vs. Djokovic<\/em><\/strong> match clocking up the highest number of check-ins.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1362\" title=\"Fango check-in results\" src=\"http:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2012\/02\/Image1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"138\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Image1.jpg 638w, https:\/\/www.frostglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Image1-208x300.jpg 208w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 138px) 100vw, 138px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tim Worner<\/strong>, <strong>CEO of Seven Network Television<\/strong>, commenting on the results, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">?Viewers are changing the way they watch TV and we?ve changed the way we produce shows to cater for this. Social and interactive elements aren?t an afterthought anymore, we are integrating them into the making of our shows.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Viewers may have already noticed that this year&#8217;s <strong>My Kitchen Rules<\/strong>?features questions throughout the program next to the Seven watermark asking viewers to comment on <strong>Twitter ?<\/strong>using?&#8217;<strong>#MKR<\/strong>&#8216;.?<strong>Channel Nine<\/strong> is also continuing to integrate <strong>Twitter<\/strong> into its cricket broadcasts by answering viewer questions posted on Twitter using &#8216;<strong>#Cricket9<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The use of social networking by TV networks is a continuing trend and no doubt more integration into broadcasts will happen throughout the year.
