Australian Open coverage another indication of upcoming changes to Anti-siphoning laws
The 2012 Australian Open hit our television screens today across the Seven Network (Free-to-Air and Host Broadcaster) and FOX SPORTS 2HD (Subscription Broadcaster). In the lead up to the Australian Open, Seven broadcast the Brisbane International, APIA International and AAMI Classic exclusively on its digital station, 7TWO (these events are not Anti-siphoned listed events). The ratings for these events were very promising and showed the benefits of multichannelling for not only free-to-air networks but also the viewer, by offering them ultimate choice of programming. Also for tennis fans the chance to watch matches that stretched in what would usually be ...
Nine’s 2012 Santos Tour Down Under broadcast schedule released
The fist event for 2012 on the UCI World Tour starts this Sunday in South Australia with the Santos Tour Down Under. As reported earlier by Frost Global the broadcast rights for the 2012 event were awarded to the Nine Network after SBS had previously broadcast the event. We noted in our earlier article that the press release from TDU organisers did not make clear what time the nightly highlights would air, for how long or whether they would be on Nine's primary channel or a secondary channel such as GEM. Nine and Tour Down Under organisers have now released the broadcast schedule for Australian viewers. ...

The online catch-up service has been a break out success in the US delivering leading US TV shows to online audiences shortly after network or cable broadcast. The ABC must grow the Australia Network
This week the Gillard Government announced that the Department of Foreign Affairs' international television network, the Australia Network will now become a permanent feature of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's duties as the national broadcaster, rather than have the network put out to commercial tender. This announcement comes after the Government scrapped that tender process to run the $23.3 million-a-year contract because of leaks during the tender process. The ABC were competing against Sky News (Australian News Channel) for rights to a new 10-year contract. The leaks saw Senator Stephen Conroy (the Minister Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy) cancel the tender process ...
Nine secures Tour Down Under broadcast rights from SBS

Under the new broadcast agreement Nine will be home of TDU coverage for the next three years, starting in 2012. It has also been confirmed that Nine's coverage will feature the voices of cycling Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen, who have previously featured in SBS' TDU coverage and Tour de France coverage.
